According to the latest Strategic Market Insights forecasting report from HobsonFord Associates, the recession will cause structural change for construction.
“Restructuring of construction in the next one to seven years will disrupt and transform businesses and the markets they operate in,” explained Glen Ford, author of the report, which is produced in association with Barbour ABI and the National House-Building Council (NHBC).
The latest edition of HobsonFord’s Strategic Market Insights, a free paper on key issues facing the UK construction industry, urges businesses to move away from a heavy reliance upon trend-based, annual business planning routines. “These will provide little benefit in the current climate,” added Glen.
“This recession is unique and will force structural change to the economy and the construction market. Past trends will offer little insight to the future. Normal business planning routines will provide little guidance. Companies need to understand the implications for their business over the next one to three years and four to ten years.”
